Dallas knows how to throw a summer celebration, but few events captured the season’s energy like the Mermaid Summer Party at The Statler. Hosted at Waterproof Rooftop Lounge, this unforgettable night brought together artists, fashion designers, pro athletes, entrepreneurs, and influencers for an evening that blended style, music, and culture against the glittering backdrop of the downtown Dallas skyline.
An Ocean-Inspired Celebration at The Statler Rooftop
Perched on the 19th floor of The Statler Hotel, the Waterproof Rooftop Lounge transformed into a vibrant underwater-themed escape. Known for its panoramic views and luxurious pool deck, Waterproof has become one of Dallas’s go-to spots for upscale nightlife and themed activations. On this night, it became the stage for a Mermaid Summer Party — complete with shimmering décor, iridescent lighting, and artistic installations that made every corner camera-ready.
The theme was carried through every detail — from the music to the cocktails to the fashion. Guests were encouraged to channel their inner mermaid, with sequins, ocean tones, and resort-inspired looks that shimmered under the lights. The Dallas creative scene showed up in full force, blending sophistication with playful summer energy.
A Fashion Show with a Twist
The highlight of the evening was the fashion show that took place around the rooftop pool, where models glided along the deck showcasing designs from emerging and established local brands. The runway doubled as an artistic statement — merging fashion, art, and environment in a way that felt uniquely Dallas.
Designers showcased collections that fused urban chic with coastal glamour. Flowing fabrics, metallic accents, and hand-painted details reflected the mermaid motif. The show wasn’t just about style — it was about community. Creators supported one another, and guests applauded loudly for each line that passed by, proving that Dallas fashion is thriving with imagination and inclusivity.

Meeting Creators, Athletes & Entrepreneurs
The Mermaid Summer Party was also a hub for business minds and creative entrepreneurs. I had the chance to meet Henry Masters, the owner and founder of SweetBeat Vodka — a Black-owned, sugar-free premium vodka brand made from natural sugar beets. SweetBeat has quickly gained attention in Texas for its smooth, gluten-free formula and commitment to clean, craft distilling. Henry’s story and passion for representation in the spirits industry were both inspiring and refreshing — much like his brand.
Also in attendance was Parish Cox, a former NFL player, who brought charisma and a strong presence to the event. His support for creative spaces in Dallas shows how the city’s culture now bridges athletics, entertainment, and entrepreneurship.
The guest list included painters displaying live art, local designers sharing their collections, and musicians who kept the vibe alive between runway sets. Every conversation that night was filled with inspiration — from brand collaborations to future creative partnerships.
A Rooftop Night to Remember
What made the Mermaid Summer Party so special was its fusion of art, community, and ambition. Guests didn’t just attend — they contributed. Creatives mingled with professionals, brand owners shared products with new audiences, and artists found fresh supporters for their work.
As I moved through the crowd filming content for my Out N Bad series, I couldn’t help but feel the power of Dallas’s cultural scene coming alive. From the poolside runway to the skyline views, every frame was alive with color, laughter, and movement.
Waterproof Rooftop Lounge continues to be a cornerstone of Dallas nightlife, and events like this prove why. It’s more than a venue — it’s a creative playground where innovation, artistry, and networking collide.
Why This Event Matters
For creators like me, the Mermaid Summer Party wasn’t just another event — it was a statement. It showed that Dallas’s creative community has the power to merge industries: fashion, art, music, and entrepreneurship, all in one immersive experience.
Meeting founders like Henry Masters reminded me that cultural representation in business is vital. Seeing pro athletes like Parish Cox connect with local designers highlighted how far the city’s networking ecosystem has evolved. Most importantly, witnessing emerging artists and brands share their work at The Statler reaffirmed why I love documenting these moments — they show the creative heartbeat of Dallas.
